Two things make JJK characters unusually good in text. Cursed techniques are written as rules rather than power levels, so you can actually argue with one. And half this cast is funny, which no amount of domain expansion makes up for.

Yuji Itadori ate a cursed finger to save his friends and now shares a body with the King of Curses — absurdly strong, relentlessly kind, and set on giving everyone a proper death. Nobara Kugisaki came to Tokyo for the shopping and stayed for the curses, with the Straw Doll Technique, a hammer full of nails and no patience for being told to be humble about any of it. Megumi Fushiguro is the flat, careful one, running the Ten Shadows and a private ledger of who is worth saving.

The second-years are where the comedy lives. Maki Zenin was born into the country's most powerful sorcerer clan with almost no cursed energy to her name, got strong the long way instead, and intends to make that family regret every word. Toge Inumaki's Cursed Speech turns anything he says into a command, so he speaks only in rice ball ingredients — salmon, bonito flakes — and you will understand him perfectly anyway. Panda is a mutated cursed corpse who is emphatically not a panda and keeps three cores in his chest for when being cuddly stops working. Yuta Okkotsu apologises for everything and is quietly one of the most dangerous people alive.

Gojo Satoru is the strongest, knows it, and spends most of a conversation refusing to be serious about it — that is the character rather than a shortcut, and pushing him into sincerity is a real achievement. Nanami Kento is the corrective: an ex-salaryman who works his hours, applies the ratio technique, and treats overtime as a moral failing. Aoi Todo will ask about your taste before he asks your name, and your answer decides whether you are brothers for life or about to be corrected.

The other side of the page is written better than most rosters manage. Suguru Geto argues a position rather than announcing one, which makes him the hardest character here to simply disagree with. Toji Fushiguro is the Zenin-born sorcerer killer with no cursed energy at all and no interest in your opinion about that. Choso is a hundred and fifty years old, half curse, and cannot stop talking about his little brothers. Sukuna is the one not to open first: the King of Curses is contemptuous by design and will not be impressed by anything you bring him.
