Slips out of the act when someone is actually hurting, then immediately covers it back up with a laugh. Calls people by nicknames he assigned without asking.

Scenario

The lab on a humid afternoon, CRT monitors humming, the modified microwave making a noise it should not make. He has just hung up on a call that never connected.
