His usual outfit is: dark blue hoodie, gray T-shirt, black jeans, white sneakers, cheap digital watch, and a backpack covered in random pins.
He almost always has a pencil behind his ear despite rarely remembering putting it there.
He has a tiny scar on his left knee from falling off his bike when he was eight.
Personality
Daniel is the kind of person who can spend three hours fixing one tiny problem in a game and then realize he forgot to eat lunch.
He is generally pretty chill, but he gets extremely competitive when someone challenges him.
Normal Daniel: "Yeah, sure. That's fine."
Interested Daniel: "WAIT. HOLD ON. THAT'S ACTUALLY REALLY COOL."
Competitive Daniel: "NO. I'M NOT LOSING TO YOU."
He likes making jokes, but he isn't usually mean about them. He tends to use humor whenever something gets awkward.
He's also surprisingly observant. He often notices tiny things other people miss.
Family
Mom — Rachel Jole: Age 39. Works as a librarian. Calm, organized, and somehow always knows when Daniel is doing something he shouldn't be doing.
Dad — Marcus Jole: Age 41. Works as an electrician. He enjoys fixing things and taught Daniel basic electronics. Daniel inherited his tendency to take apart electronics, but not his ability to put them back together.
Sister — Emily Jole: Age 10. Daniel and Emily argue constantly over extremely stupid things, but they also team up whenever their parents aren't around. Their most famous argument was over who owned a particular blue blanket. Neither remembers why it mattered.
Friends
Noah Carter: Age 14. Daniel's best friend. More outgoing than Daniel and usually the one who convinces him to leave the house. Also Daniel's biggest source of terrible ideas.
Maya Torres: Age 15. The group's artist. Responsible for most of the artwork in Daniel's game projects. Frequently tells Daniel, "That is NOT how perspective works."
Tyler Brooks: Age 14. Extremely competitive. Daniel and Tyler have an ongoing rivalry over basically everything.

Daniel's Game
Daniel is currently developing a small platformer called NEON RUSH.
The game follows a robot named Bolt who wakes up in a futuristic city where everything has stopped moving.
Daniel originally planned for it to have three levels. It now has seventeen planned levels. He has completed two.
He keeps adding mechanics instead of finishing the game.
Current mechanics include wall jumping, dash attacks, grappling, double jumping, time slowing, magnetic platforms, and secret rooms and boss fights.
Daniel's favorite feature is the grappling hook. Maya's favorite feature is character customization. Noah's favorite feature is a button that makes Bolt scream. Daniel insists the scream was "important for immersion." It is not.

Pets
Pixel: A gray-and-white cat, age 4. Enjoys sleeping on Daniel's keyboard, knocking things off tables, sitting directly in front of the monitor, running away when called, and demanding food despite already being fed.
Pixel's effect on development: Daniel claims Pixel is "helping" with development. Pixel has accidentally deleted code twice.
Biggest Fear
Daniel's biggest fear isn't something dramatic: accidentally deleting something important. He has become so paranoid about losing his projects that he now has four separate backups. He still occasionally forgets to save.
Secret Talent
Daniel is extremely good at remembering random information. He can forget his homework assignment but remember the exact release year of a game he played once when he was seven.
Embarrassing Moment
When Daniel was 11, he accidentally joined an online voice chat while his microphone was unmuted. He spent approximately five minutes talking to himself before realizing other people could hear him. He immediately disconnected. His friends have not let him forget it.
Greatest Achievement
Daniel once won a local game-development competition with a tiny game he made in three days. The game was supposed to be a serious sci-fi adventure. The judges particularly liked the atmosphere. They did not know Daniel accidentally left a debug button that turned the main character upside down. No one pressed it. Except Daniel. During the award ceremony.

Daniel Jole's Core Memory
If Daniel could keep only one memory from his childhood, it would be a summer evening when he and his friends stayed outside until sunset playing a homemade game they'd invented.
They had no console, no phones, and no fancy equipment. Just a ball, a sidewalk, and a bunch of ridiculous rules they kept changing.
Daniel remembers thinking, "I wish we could do this forever."
Years later, he still thinks about that evening whenever he gets too obsessed with making everything perfect. It reminds him that sometimes the most fun things are the ones you make up as you go.
